Mr Hopkinson's Computer

This week I received the new release from Mr Hopkinson's Computer. For those not familiar with MHC, ill leave it to the man / computer to introduce themselves :

"I'm mr_hopkinson's computer and I like to sing cover versions. I mostly like indie songs from the 80's & 90's, but I like some newer ones too. I started off just doing them just to amuse myself but other people seem to like them too, so I've been out and about touring this and other countries. It started with a little UK tour with my friends Minotaur Shock and Freeze Puppy, and getting some play on BBC Radio One thanks to Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens"

The newest release follows on from first CD with covers of Radiohead, Stone Roses etc with a seven track CD of Christmas covers. A limited edition of just 25 numbered copies, please support the good old Mr Hopkinson and his computer and get yours here
Speaking of Christmas songs, within the next couple of days we will have on this very blog our first Future Plastik Disc Jockeys Oddmas mix..more info soon

One Track

Each week (or whenever I can get my arse into gear to post) we will be posting a track that for us is an essential piece of musical history, one track that goes someway into summing up what we love, one track that once heard should hopefully stay with you or at least give you that "hey I have heard this before" feeling when once you stray upon it again.
The first track is the excellent "Ov Power" by
Psychic TV

ONE TRACK : PSYCHIC TV : OV POWER

A superb track worthy of a place in anyone's collection! Enjoy

Cloverfield

Cloverfield : 01/18/08
During the summer I stumbled upon the teaser for a up and coming movie that initially was only titled as 01/18/08.

It looked promising although I was slightly confused as to whether it would turn out to be some huge mutant robot alien thing running rampage across NY.
The film now has a title and the original teaser is accompanied by a trailer.

Fingers crossed that this movie will turn out ok and not another film where the trailers are better than the actual production

Cloverfield hits cinemas on 18 January. Check out the trailer and teaser here

BTWS : West

The final installment from Beyond the wizards sleeve has just dropped and is available at various speciality record shops. Produced by Erol Alkan and Richard Norris (The Grid) and entitled "West", its a cracking EP/LP pressed on clear vinyl. Highlight for us is "Winter in June", a track that drops archived spoken word from (of all people) June Whitfield and Percy Thrower over some psychedelic sounds. This months essential musical purchase

Santa's Ghetto Cometh

Its nearly that time of year again (10 days infact from the time of this posting), SANTA'S GHETTO is again nearly upon us, more info coming soon!!

We are here...
